Whitley Galleries - A North Carolina Tradition Since 1909
About Us

Come Share A Tradition

In 1909, Whitley Galleries, then known as Zebulon Supply Company, was established as a dry goods store in downtown Zebulon, North Carolina.  As a sideline, we sold strong iron beds out of the attic.

It didn’t take long to realize the demand for sturdy, long lasting furniture at a fair price.  Hats, coats and spats went by the wayside and Whitley Galleries started the tradition of the finest furniture at reasonable prices that has grown to the store of today.

Much time has passed since 1909.  Trends have come and gone, and come back again, but our integrity and reputation have remained constant.  As a fourth generation, family owned and operated business, Whitley Galleries has and always will be committed to providing our customers with beautiful, well made furniture, professional, personalized service, and highly competitive pricing.

If you have never been to Whitley Galleries, we invite you to visit our city-block showroom where you will be greeted by spectacular gallery settings, a profusion of color and style, and a friendly and professional sales staff.

More company history from the early days is available in an article published in The State magazine, in 1937. Please find an introduction to Just A Country Storekeeper below and the article in its entirety in PDF format.

But there are few big-town merchants who are any more progressive in their business methods than C.V. Whitley in the town of Zebulon, N.C.

July 31, 1937  -  C. V. Whitley is proprietor of the Zebulon Supply Company located at Zebulon, a town of less than 1,000 population in Wake County.

Many small-town merchants have been complaining for years that their business has been ruined and that they are barely able to make a living. The business of the Zebulon Supply Company, on the other hand, has shown a steady increase year after year and today it probably is the biggest enterprise you can find anywhere in the state in a town approximating the size of Zebulon.

"The good roads have ruined us!" is the comment which many a small-town merchant has been making. "People are going to the large towns to do their shopping."

Probably so, but it isn't true in the case of the Zebulon Supply Company. On the contrary, exactly the opposite is happening. People are going to Zebulon from Raleigh, Wilson, Rocky Mount and many other towns to make their purchases.
